Gloomy Skies & Analog Highs: Finding My Reading Rhythm | Weekly Notes (april 6, 2026 - april 10, 2026)

Monday

It's a new week! And I'm feeling really excited for it. I'm also feeling inspired to do some organizing or work on some of my bigger projects, whether home related or passion project related. I also want to get into some kind of rhythm with all of my habit goals. Some I've already gotten good at like my morning routine, but there are definitely things I want to add to it, along with creating other rhythms throughout the day. It's mostly because I have so many things I want to make time for, pairing it with a certain time frame will help me make whatever task I'm focusing on into a habit. ONE OF WHICH NEEDS TO BE READING! I cannot believe how long I've been in this reading rut. But it kind of makes sense. At the beginning of the year I was more focused on self help and educational style books and taking book notes. I was in more of a learning mood than a get lost in another world mood. But I have been craving a good fictional story. So hopefully I'll find that one book soon that'll propel me back into reading. I've spent the last few days editing my March vlog that encompasses moments from the entire month and I'm really excited for the new format I edited it in. I'm in an experimental phase right now with long form videography as I figure out my groove, and it's been fun. I hope this week is full of creative inspiration and creating itself.

Tuesday

I did not sleep well last night. I think there was various reasons why, but one of them was probably the rain. It rained throughout the night and is going to continue for the next few days. It's 7 am and the tone for the day is already set with the dark gray sky. Its definitely going to be a gloomy day, and I'm actually excited for it. I'm sure being really tired has something to do with that excitement, but I also see gloomy days as opportunity for rest, or turning inward. I want to have a combination of the two today, actively resting, and focusing on analog hobbies, especially reading! I'm going to keep reminding myself until it becomes habit.

Today ended up being a pretty productive day. It didn't rain as much as I expected, but it was still pretty gloomy. I read 100+ pages in my book, so I guess you can say I'm out of my reading rut! Honestly one of the best feelings ever. I'm currently reading The Maui Effect by Sara Ackerman. As a nature lover, I don't know if there could be a better setting. It is a romance novel, but is even more focused on the nature aspect. I'm already planning on reading another book by the author that is similar in structure and plot. I'm about half way through the book now and I hope I can get back on track to reach my reading goal for the year.

I also spent the day getting back into some of my rhythms and prioritizing habits I want to become part of my daily life. It was a well balanced day.

Wednesday

I woke up and the first thing I wanted to do was read. I'm sensing a new morning routine coming on. Theres something so calming about starting the morning with reading a fiction novel.
I spent the day looking back on old photographs, mostly creative ones or aesthetic ones. I'm still in this dilemma on what to do with my photography practice and where to share it since being off short form social media. I continue to ask myself if going back is worth it, to have a space for this practice, if I should share on Pinterest or do something else. As of now, I'm thinking of sharing some of my old favorites here on my blog, and then starting new, in some capacity, somewhere.

Thursday

I did not sleep well last night and all I wanted to do was get up and read. As of last night, I had 150 pages left, but as of now (and its only 9 am), I have around 70! This book has officially gotten me out of my reading rut! There's already so many glimmers to look forward to in daily life, but nothing matches the craving to pick up a good book and see what happens next.

Friday

It's been a pretty productive morning. I started a new book and got all of my dreaded cleaning tasks out of the way. I am sooo ready for the weekend. I just want to continue pursuing analog hobbies and take it easy. It's been really dreary here for weeks, so it would be nice if we could get outside this weekend. As of now, the only plans we have so far is to attend a family lunch which will be so fun. I also hope to get to the library and make it a habit through the spring and summer months. One thing I want to prioritize today (and this weekend) is to research meal and snack ideas that are more balanced and can keep me satiated, and my blood sugar regulated while managing different dietary restrictions. I recently noticed that YouTube is now allowing 10 photo carousels on the community tab and that excites me because I haven't really found a groove with where and how I want to share my photos that I take throughout the week, and I've decided I want to share them there every Friday. While I have been sprinkling in some photos in my blogs, and creating a monthly zine with photos I capture, I do miss the casual posting aspect that social media provided. And since being off short form social media, I have not been able to satisfy that itch for sharing my photography.
