My 30th birthday weekend | downtown west palm, matcha, gluten free pastries, cheesecake factory, miniso, princess diaries party

I am so grateful for everything my 30th birthday weekend ended up being. We started Saturday morning in Downtown West Palm Beach near Clematis Street. The main priority was a new tea bar that recently opened called Arya Tea bar that serves mainly matcha (a dream). I went with a safe option - a strawberry matcha since it was my first time there. The barista had mentioned a few drinks that were not on the menu like a date matcha and a coconut brulee matcha. To be honest, I kind of wish I tried one of those because I was craving something decadent. The strawberry matcha didn't really do it for me. It was refreshing, but also different from any matcha I've had before. The barista mentioned that they had two matcha varieties -fall or spring I believe. The fall was the stronger tasting one and she recommended it to me as I'm a daily matcha drinker. I think it was a bit bitter. They sweeten the drinks with honey and I'm used to maple syrup or a flavor. Overall, I felt the drink was a bit watery and it did not have a strong strawberry taste. I do appreciate that their ingredients seem very health conscious. I will be back because I want to give the other flavors a try.

The scenery downtown was beautiful. I love looking at the different buildings, architecture and details that make up a downtown area. We walked past a mural, a radio recording studio, and an area that had a ton of stickers. It really is the random things.

We weren't too far from the Salty Donut in Rosemary Square, so we ended up walking to it. I was on a mission to try their new blueberry gluten free donut. I also decided to give their new blueberry matcha a try cause at that point I had nothing to lose. It felt like I was on a downtown matcha tour which made it even more fun. To be honest, their matcha was also kind of disappointing, although I liked it a bit more than Arya. It was a thicker consistency and the blueberry flavor came through a bit more. The blueberry donut on the other hand was AMAZING. It had this maple icing which was my favorite part. I hope to try it again before they switch flavors out. It was probably one of my favorite gluten free donuts I've tried from them.

We walked around Rosemary Square a bit, walked through Urban Outfitters and the new Eataly dining hall to see what it was. All I can say is WOW. what a cool concept. Its an italian inspired dining hall that has various vendors you can order from and then fine dining seating to enjoy your food. I saw a gourmet sandwich stand, a pastry area and gelato. There were other booths but I didn't see what they were selling. There was also a prepared food area and random items throughout the building set up in a store setting. I hope they offer some gluten free options because I would love to experience it.

Then we headed to miniso in the palm beach outlets. This was another top priority. I saw one had opened in the wellington mall years ago and I just have not made my way over there, so when I saw there was one in the outlets I was really excited. I was mainly going to look at their mystery toys and sanrio items. They had some collectors mystery options and I got a hello kitty and friends one. I ended up with my melody dressed as a cow and it is the cutest thing. I'll definitely be back for more. They sold various items like stationary, beauty items, plushies, keychains, snacks and more.

Before we hit the road, we got french fries and a milkshake from chik-fil-a as a snack. Honestly the perfect way to wrap up an adventure filled morning. We ended the day with a cozy night in.

Sunday was my actual birthday and the main plan was my birthday lunch at cheesecake factory. We had a balloon arch and shimmery curtain decor piece on the wall and 2 ft number balloons. I took some cute pictures in my birthday dress before heading to lunch. I got the gluten free corn tamales, a custom salad, a shirley temple and the gluten free chocolate cheesecake.

Another main aspect of my birthday was that I wanted my at home party to be princess diaries themed. I have been wanting to have a birthday with this theme for years. Im so glad it didnt work out before and that I could do it for my 30th. We ordered pizza and put m&ms on it, I got cute pink pajamas as a nod to the second movie, and tried to gather random pieces that referenced the movie to use as decor. I'll share a separate blog post about that. But after the cheesecake factory, we just relaxed at home, played some board games, watched princess diaries, ate our cheesecake and had pizza. It was the perfect way to wrap up my birthday weekend.

I gathered so many mementos from this weekend to use in my junk journal like receipts, packaging, wrapping paper, cards, pamphlets, etc. I'll be sharing a blog post about that as well.
