How I'm Prepping to Have a Whimsical Summer Like it's the Early 2000s

I've been thinking about the Summer season for awhile now, making bucket lists, curating aesthetics and figuring out how I could make it the most whimsical Summer yet. Here's how I've been prepping for Summer:

The very first thing I did was take inventory of what I already have and figure out how I could utilize it for Summer. Whether it was my closet, accessories, craft supplies or home decor storage, I went through everything to see what I could use this season.

For the most part, my style is very earthy, with pops of color and whimsical patterns. I was surprised to see how many blouses and t-shirts I could utilize in a unique way. I still have some jeans to cut into bermuda shorts and some embroidery and patchwork projects to do, but it was fun to shop my closet.

I also started saving some summer hairstyle inspo on Pinterest and practiced a 5 minute wavy hair and braids look. I definitely want to try out some braid hair styles this season.

I also figured out my 5 minute Summer makeup routine that is perfect for the hot Florida weather. Lately, I haven't been wearing mascara. My top 2 products are blush and lip oil. But sometimes I'll add a brown eyeshadow in the crease and use a subtle glitter for a more whimsical look. I'll share the products I've been loving in a post soon.

One of my favorite prep activities to do was go through my closet and pick out my top 3 summer bags. They're all Juicy Couture of course. I'm here for a y2k moment. Two are shoulder bags and one of them is a larger cross body. I chose them for different occasions and because I love the pops of color. While I switched around the bag charms that came with the purses, I still want to DIY bag charms for each purse specifically with a summer bag charm I create out of beads or felt.

I took inventory of my craft supplies and hobbies I've accumulated and just noted what projects I want to continue working on, as well as new projects I would like to start.

Accessories are an easy way to change up an outfit, so I went through my jewelry collection to see what I had that I could use this season. I made a lot of my bead jewelry myself and still have a ton of materials to DIY more custom pieces, which makes me excited.

As for Summer home decor, I'm not going out of my way to purchase new things for the season. Overall, my home decor style is very whimsical, has pops of color and is nature oriented year round so I feel like it works for any season. I made simple changes with my bedding like utilizing a blue and white striped blanket, changing throw pillows out, and changing up my dining room table scape weekly.

Some planning tasks I've been working on include curating my Summer bucket list, which is done for the most part, and figuring out my daily routine. I love sunrise walks and being intentional about different times of my day like that.

For me, there is so much fun in the planning and curating because I love a whimsical vibe. I hope this can encourage you to utilize what you already have to romanticize the season.
